The Value of Time
Als Einleitung zu einem Gala-Dinner im Jahr 2000 hielt der Küchenchef eine kleine einleitende Rede.
Den Teil der Rede, welcher das Thema „The Value of Time“ hatte, faszinierte mich und so möchte ich Dir den Text nicht vorenthalten:
To realise the value of ONE YEAR
Ask a student who has failed his exam.To realise the value of ONE MONTH
Ask a mother who has given birth to a premature baby.To realise the value of ONE WEEK
Ask an editor of a weekly.To realise the value of ONE DAY
Ask a daily wage labourer.To realise the value of ONE MINUTE
Ask a person who has missed the train.To realise the value of ONE SECOND
Ask a person who has survived an accident.To realise the value of ONE MILLISECOND
Ask the person who has won a silver medal in Olympics.To realise the value of ONE NANOSECOND
Ask a Hardware Engineer!If you still don’t realise the value of time
You must be a Software Engineer!!!But talking about time – I realise that my time is up. I shall close by presenting the Team behind this evening’s Gala Dinner
